Vintage Maps: Décor with Direction

Map has long enjoyed a special place in our heritage. Capturing the spirit of adventure travel trips, royal intrigue and shifting political fiefdoms, historical perspective and a route from a common ancestor us, and the color and unique taste in the world, the map offers what most vintage art pieces are not romantic, attractive to most people. With a unique charm, the map can serve as focal centerpieces or simply serve as an interesting accent. This interesting piece of vintage art offers Old-World charm and appeal of our appeal, even if for a moment, any they are placed, as conversation starters or as a meaningful piece with timeless appeal.

Use universal

Most everyone uses the map, and most people do it with the sole purpose to find the right route from where they where they want to go. In some cases, they even look to see where other people have started and ended the journey. An elected, however, see the map as a design artistic, perhaps even see it as a high expression of engraving and printing skills. Beginning in the 18th century date, and also the 20th, the rich, the powerful (and those who aspire to be) both use the bound, color atlas as a center in a private library or drawing room in an effort to show good sharpness and subtlety. Published atlas of astute left open to a page that shows the experience of traveling recently, a troublesome current political events, or even a dreary disaster in an effort to trigger a conversation.

Dynamic business leaders, politicians and high military officers determined always using the impressive world map or an impressive wall to describe the level of their influence or the depth of their ambition. Medieval and Renaissance governments and they continue to assign the inventor of the map as a secret weapon to make angry enemies or foil competition. Democratic society distributed maps of their populations as a symbol of freedom, while totalitarian regimes make maps, and the potential for providing these documents for travel, off-limits to all but a few in the ruling echelons.

Fortunately, the map has other uses beyond its function as a traveling aid. When first appeared on a wall map of the ruling or the atlas rich, eye-catching beauty of design and strength of paper and ink the ability to arouse emotions that immediately clear. Color, lines, structures and even calligraphy can map their goals beyond the originally intended. Tool into an art form itself. A practical use of maps can be made obsolete by the war, political or natural disasters, but the beauty of design and good production quality gives eternal appeal executed maps.

Evolution of Cartography

Although map of today's far more accurate and far more useful information, modern collectors and interior designers look to the past for the best examples of cartography for use in displays or decorations.

The Allure

There was never a time when the people who have traveled as often and as far as we do today. Everyone comes from somewhere and most of us want to go somewhere else. Frequency and urgency of the journey often destroy our sense of time and distance, but the map return this sensitivity. We not only get back the feeling of our own travel experiences but those of our ancestors and culture. Vintage maps allow us to display the pride of our own accomplishments while connecting them with our lineage. Like a rack attached to the classic text rich, well-framed map speaks as much about the owner of the mundane as well as of taste. Few people today can decorate their walls with magnificent ancestral portraits, but that does not mean someone is not worth descent celebrate. A vintage maps can tell you like a portrait in the hall far less space and in a much more quietly.

The Variety

Choice of Map décor that much, but the same effect. A map of the medieval city of Naples, a revolutionary Cork area map, map of Provence region, a map of the United States Civil War or 16th century map of New World is as much conversation starters because they are symbols of life from the perspective of the owner. Whatever the method of presentation, the people who are interested in this immediate and necessary showing little historical encourage viewer opinions or personal travel experiences.
