What is meant by the “cut” of a nonlinear crystal such as KD*P?
KD*P is a type of nonlinear crystal its chemical name is Potassium Dideuterium Phosphate.
But I want to just know what the term "cut" means with respect to a nonlinear crystal. Is it the angle its cut at or the dimensions the crystal is cut?
I guess (though I am not familiar with the context) that it means the angle of cut with respect to the preferred direction of polarisation in the material (KDP being, as I am sure you know, a well-known ferroelectric crystal).
