The cover or envelope The last major design element that you should consider is the cover or envelope of the invitation. This is basically the "gift wrapper" of your invitation. For serious events like conferences, off the shelf white envelopes can suffice. However, for occasions like weddings and the like, the cover or envelope should match the color motif or theme of the said event. This makes it part of the overall design which should compliment the invitation it is carrying.
