how do i convert a lineart image in Photoshop to separate the white background from the black line?
Let's say I take a scan of a coloring book. I want to color the image, but how do I use Photoshop to get rid of the white background so I can layer the colors? Is there a tutorial out there? Thanks!
First you need to 'unlock' the background layer, to do that just double click on the layer name and it will ask you to rename that layer.
Assuming all you have is black and white in your image, all you have to do is select the magic wand, make sure that the option 'Contiguous' is not checked and click on any white part of the image, and then press 'delete' on your keyboard.
Now you should have a checkerboard background (that tells you you have a transparent background) and the black lines.
Now just color away!
