Can I wear black to a wedding?
It's a four o'clock wedding and the bride is getting married in a burgundy or red dress. The outfit consists of a velvety/velour black skirt with lace trim, black velour/velvet cami with black satin rose and below waist length lace trimmed jacket. I'm wearing sheer black stockings and an open toed black court shoe and black beady evening bag with it. I'm 48 and blonde. Please, I need help urgently, as I am the stepmom of the bride to be and don't want to offend anyone. PS I look stunning in the outfit. 
And I have been searching for an appropriate outfit for 3 weeks without any success so this is it I think, I'm so tired of looking.
PS The wedding is going to be an away trip in the mountains where it's going to be very cold, so that is also a limiting factor.
The bride is getting married in a burgundy or red dress? Doesn't sound like your typical 'white wedding'! I say wear what you want to, it sounds stunning; but I also have to agree with some of the other answers that stated you might want to blend in with the colors of others for the family photos. Which, if the bride is in burgundy/red, you will probably blend in just fine. What colors are the tuxs and bridesmaids? Anywho, lose the black stockings and go for nude and maybe add some of the brides co-existing colors of the wedding to your beautiful dress with your accessories!!
