The Wedding Guest List: How to Keep It Short and to Get Everyone to Live With It
Most of the couples in the mid-twenties are the days when they plan their wedding. That usually means that they've got their own incomes and often pay a lot of their own marriages. Father and mother are off the hook. That may sound bad, but there is a silver lining in the clouds. Back at the time when parents pay for most everything related to marriage, they have more control over when, where and who in the marriage. Now, by paying some bills, they have made a final decision.
You Pay, you Determine
That must be true when it comes to the guest list. If you pay your own wedding, it really is up to you who and how many are will be invited. One of the key ways that couples who save money on their wedding today is to have a wedding guest list short. You do not have to invite all the people that people know, but you do not. You can invite the people who mean the most to you.
This does not mean that it's an easy thing to have a short list of invited guests your wedding. Cutting people out can cause hurt feelings. Are people's family members, colleagues or even friends outskirts disappointed that they did not get an invitation? Maybe so. All you can do is to explain the best possible reasons. Tell them that you just want a smaller wedding. Or if it's true and you are not too proud, tell them that you can not afford a larger wedding with one to two hundred guests.
Hopefully, they will understand and not feel slighted. There is no guarantee and some may not be satisfied with your explanation. But again, you pay for it, so you can make a decision. Others must be able to live with what you decide.
Ask Questions
If you're ready to start making your list, here are some questions you might ask yourself as you do. One, if you must extend an invitation to co-workers? Two, what about the children or other important people? Some couples have learned from bitter experience that the they must be careful in the words of the invitation.
If you send a wedding invitation to Mr. and Mrs. Somebody, then they can bring the children and mothers who live with them. Sometimes the best way to determine exactly who you are inviting and even including the reservation for say two people, or many, however, in the invitation.
