Where to donate wedding items?
Lately I have been thinking about what is to become of all of our things after the wedding we are buying;
7 Crystal Chandilers of different sizes from flea markets
15 table cloths for round 72" tables (silk)
30 table cloths for round 36" tables (silk)
8 rectangular large tables (silk)
200 seat cushion covers
40 Silver serving trays
20 Silver candalabras 28"
30 Silver candalabras 18"
20 Blue cloth parasols
And tons more, but those are the prominent things that come to mind
I know I could sell them, but instead my fiance and I were hoping we could donate them to a wedding tree type of facility where brides could get them for their own weddings that might not have been able to afford it before. Does anyone know of a website, or facility like this?
Also, would the things I listed be appropriate for donation (I would of course have everything pressed and/or cleaned after use)?
There are sites called freecyle you could put them on there. You could donate them on Craigslist also. I don't know where you live but My friend Julie and I hold something like what you said, a wedding tree type thing I guess you could say. We did it last year, this year and we plan to expand next year. What we do is collect bridesmaids dresses, prom dresses, wedding dresses, accessories, shoes, decorations and whatnot. Then we put out flyers, go on the radio and put an ad in the paper for women who want a beautiful prom dress or beautiful wedding but cannot afford it. We ask that they pay a donation, of anything that they are comfortable with, even if it's $20 for a $200 dress...Then all the donations we use to buy more things through the year for it.
I'm not sure where you live but if you are interested I can send you my address, you can see how much it would be to ship stuff and I can pay the shipping cost.
I have been having some pretty good progress on here I have a few brides who have written to me about possibly sending their wedding gowns to us.
EDIT depending on how far from us you live and how much it would cost to mail everything, my brother and I could make a road trip out of it lol he's been dying to road trip all year
