I have a silk pashmina for my wedding, it’s quite stiff though. Is there any way to soften raw silk safely?

I managed to find a perfect pashmina to wear on my wedding day, it’s raw silk and quite stiff. Is there any way to soften the material without damaging it?
It’s 100% silk.

I don’t think that real silk should ever be stiff, raw or not. Could it be Linen or cotton.
